Dr. Rachel South, DVM

Dr. Rachel South, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Rachel South is a founder of River Valley Animal Hospital. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with her DVM degree in 2013 and completed her clinical year of the program at Oklahoma State University. Dr. South received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Loyola University Maryland. She is originally from Bel Air, Maryland. While attending Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies, she met Dr. Trevor South. Upon completion of her DVM degree she moved to Arkansas where Dr. Trevor was already practicing!

Upon graduation Dr. South worked in an emergency practice while doing relief work for several day practices in Northwest Arkansas. Dr. South genuinely enjoys emergency and critical care medicine, falling in love with the fast-paced environment while she was a veterinary technician in Maryland before attending veterinary school.

Dr. Rachel is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association as well as the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with Dr. Trevor and their two children, traveling, riding her horses and trout fishing. She also enjoys spending time with her German Shorthaired Pointer named Blake and cat named Riley. Dr. South is eager to provide compassionate veterinary care to the area.

Veterinarian

Dr. Trevor South is a founder of River Valley Animal Hospital. He graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with his DVM degree in 2011 and completed his clinical year of the program at Iowa State University. Dr. South received his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at Oklahoma State University. He is a Greenwood, Arkansas native graduating from Greenwood High School in 2003. While attending Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies Dr. Trevor met his wife Dr. Rachel South and they decided to build a life and a practice in Arkansas.

Prior to building River Valley Animal Hospital, Dr. Trevor had started his own successful ambulatory veterinary practice serving the AR/OK community. His veterinary interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery, equine lameness and herd health.

Dr. Trevor is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Association of Equine Practitioners.

In his free time Dr. Trevor enjoys spending time with Dr. Rachel and their two children, taking care of his cattle, trout fishing and hunting! Dr. South is excited to have the opportunity to offer the Fort Chaffee area and surrounding communities high quality medicine and care.

Dr. Brittney Brasuell, DVM

Dr. Brittney Brasuell, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Brittney Brasuell became a member of RVAH as an associate veterinarian in June 2022. She graduated from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine with her DVM degree in May 2022 and completed her clinical year at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Brasuell received a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in small business and entrepreneurship at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock in 2016. She received a second bachelors in Animal Science at the University of Arkansas in 2017.

Dr. Brasuell started at RVAH as a technician and is excited to be back as a doctor and to be continuing her work with you and your fur babies. She enjoys working with large and small animals. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and soon to be joining the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and loved ones. She is currently building a homestead on 25 acres with her fiancé while remodeling their new house. Dr. Brasuell has two dogs named Storm and Dozer as well as two cats named Kurgan and Stitch.

Dr. Taylynn Bolen, DVM

Dr. Taylynn Bolen, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Taylynn Bolen is a Fear Free Certified veterinarian and proud graduate of Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She also holds certifications in artificial insemination and cattle palpation and is especially passionate about livestock medicine and local outreach.

Dr. Bolen was raised in a Florida community and was actively involved in 4-H, FFA, her local cattlemen’s association, and breed organizations. She showed beef cattle at the local, state, and national levels, and spent hours volunteering at the local animal hospital. She was inspired by a dedicated local veterinarian who mentored her throughout her youth. Her goal is to support her community and the next generation of agriculturists, just as her mentor once supported her.

Outside of her work, Dr. Bolen enjoys life with her husband, and their two dogs, Murphy and Gunner. They spend their free time hiking, gardening, tending to their cattle operation, and staying active in their local FFA, 4-H, and cattlemen’s association. Whether she’s in the clinic or out in the field, Dr. Bolen is committed to helping both animals and people thrive.

Dr. Isaac Verkamp, DVM

Dr. Isaac Verkamp, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Isaac Verkamp earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University and is excited to begin his career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Verkamp’s path into veterinary medicine was shaped by growing up on a farm, where caring for animals was an integral part of everyday life, instilling a lasting sense of responsibility and purpose. He hopes his clients know the importance of preventive care, especially when it comes to protecting pets from preventable diseases like heartworm.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Verkamp serves as a firefighter and enjoys outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. He also enjoys working on projects at home with his wife and staying involved in their church community.
