Dr. Rachel South, DVM
Upon graduation Dr. South worked in an emergency practice while doing relief work for several day practices in Northwest Arkansas. Dr. South genuinely enjoys emergency and critical care medicine, falling in love with the fast-paced environment while she was a veterinary technician in Maryland before attending veterinary school.
Dr. Rachel is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association as well as the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.In her free time, she enjoys spending time with Dr. Trevor and their daughter Madelyn, riding her horse JJ, traveling, and trout fishing. She also enjoys spending time with her German Shorthaired Pointer named Blake and cat named Riley. Dr. South is eager to provide compassionate veterinary care to the area.
Dr. Trevor South, DVM
Dr. Trevor South is an owner of River Valley Animal Hospital. He graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with his DVM degree in 2011 and completed his clinical year of the program at Iowa State University. Dr. South received his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at Oklahoma State University. He is a Greenwood, Arkansas native graduating from Greenwood High School in 2003. While attending Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies Dr. Trevor met his wife Dr. Rachel South and they decided to build a life and a practice in Arkansas.
Prior to building River Valley Animal Hospital, Dr. South had started his own successful ambulatory veterinary practice serving the AR/OK community. His veterinary interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery, equine lameness and herd health.
Dr. Trevor is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
In his free time Dr. South enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, Madelyn, taking care of his cattle, trout fishing and hunting! Dr. South is excited to have the opportunity to offer the Fort Chaffee area and surrounding communities high quality medicine and care.
Dr. Kalah Tipton, DVM
Dr. Kalah Tipton has been an associate veterinarian at River Valley Animal Hospital since June 2017. She completed her Associate’s Degree in the honors program at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, OK, and her bachelor’s and doctorate degrees at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK.
She is originally from Eufaula, OK. Upon graduation from veterinary school in 2015, she began working in small animal general practice in southeast Oklahoma. Prior to and during veterinary school, she worked as an assistant in a variety of different veterinary settings across Oklahoma including small animal general practice, shelter animal caretaker, and multiple mixed animal general practices. Her interests include preventative medicine and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Kalah Tipton is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association, Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Heartworm Society.
In her free time, Dr. Tipton enjoys time spent with her husband Randy, and their sons Cody and Lucas. They have a small farm in Oklahoma and have a shelter dog named Rylan along with four cats named Hazel, Punkin, Patch, and Dapper. When she’s not working, she enjoys projects like home renovation, furniture restoration/refurbishing, and sewing.
Dr. Kellie Hale, DVM
Dr. Hale graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She received an Associate of Science degree from Carl Albert State College in Poteau, OK, and a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, in Ft.
Smith, AR. Dr. Hale will be licensed in both Arkansas and Oklahoma.
She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Heartworm Society. She will soon be a member of the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association and be Fear Free certified. Dr. Hale enjoys working on large and small animals. She has an interest in animal reproduction and is trained in bovine artificial insemination. Dr. Hale is excited to be part of the team at River Valley Animal Hospital and looks forward to working with you and your four-legged friends!
Cassidy joined the RVAH family in April 2019 as the practice manager. She has been in the animal industry for 6 years, starting in grooming, and moving her way through the ranks as CSR, Office Manager and now Practice Manager. She graduated Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s Degree from UAFS in Theatre with a Minor in English Literature in 2015. She has 5 animals- her soulmate calico cat named Cherokee, a brown tabby cat named Osage, a Pit mix named Ruby, an Alaskan Malamute named Siku and a Lizard named Tuco.
In her free time, she enjoys attending concerts, traveling, going on cruises, cooking, gardening, eco-friendly living, and doing freelance makeup artistry for weddings and photoshoots!
She has an intense passion and dedication to the animal field and is especially interested in feline medicine, client education, veterinary social media, and the care of reptiles. She loves serving the River Valley community at RVAH and strives to make RVAH the best of the best!
Client Service Representative
Natalie has just recently joined the RVAH team as CSR in April 2020 and first started working in the animal industry in 2013. She loves to help people and their pets with any questions, concerns or advice they need. Animals have always been a huge passion for her since she was a child.
She has 2 dogs named Mazzy and Star, and also a cat named Twiggy who she loves dearly. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her son, family, and friends and her fur-kiddos, kayaking, camping, and anything outdoors in The Natural State. She has a special interest in squirrel rehabilitation and has rehabilitated/raised them for release successfully. She started her fondness for squirrels as a small child and has been nicknamed “Squirrel Girl” for the last few years, as they are one of her absolute favorite animals. Natalie is excited to serve the River Valley as a CSR and is looking forward to meeting the RVAH patients and their wonderful owners!
Client Service Representative
Sydnei joined RVAH as a CSR and veterinary technician in April of 2019!
She has worked in the field as a veterinary technician for 3 years now and has always had a passion for animals that started to form when she was a young child working on her family’s farm.
Sydnei’s special interests in veterinary medicine include hematology, animal anatomy and pharmacology. Her goal is to become a certified veterinary technician. She has a dog named Jenny who she loves dearly and was her first rescue animal. She also has two German Shepherds named Mags and Chase. In her free time, Sydnei enjoys reading, crafting, gaming, and expanding her knowledge on treatment protocols in the veterinary field!
Lead Veterinary Technician
Sophia joined RVAH July of 2017 as a Veterinary Assistant and is one of River Valley Animal Hospital’s Lead Veterinary Technicians. She is currently enrolled in classes to become a Certified Veterinary Technician!
She moved from Pueblo, Colorado in 2015 to Arkansas and has fallen in love with The Natural State! She got her start in the animal field by working in animal shelters, helping pets get adopted to their forever homes. Sophia’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is the emergency and trauma related cases, being able to help the sick and injured is her passion. She is owned by 4 animals: her kitty, Popoki, who traveled with her all the way from Colorado, and her 3 canine companions; Loki, Lola and Scooby.
Her hobbies outside of work include doing schoolwork, DIY projects for her new home, and finding ways to increase her knowledge and skills of veterinary medicine.
Lead Veterinary Technician
Heather has been with RVAH since the very first day the doors were open in January, 2017. She is one of the RVAH Lead Technicians and has worked as a veterinary assistant for 10+ years.
She has had a lifelong love for animals, especially horses. That love inspired her to run with the Old Fort Days Dandies during highschool. After highschool she ran with another quadrille called the 4:13 Riders, and although she doesn’t rodeo anymore, she still has horses in her life and couldn’t imagine her life without them!
Heather is extremely supportive of rescue/adoption and especially spaying/neutering for pet population control and health. She is obsessed with corgis, thanks to a little dog named Bitty, and now has a whole gaggle of rescue Corgis!
In her free time she likes to spend time with her husband, JoNate, and daughter, Kaylie Jane. She enjoys gardening, doing 4-H activities with her daughter, raising chickens and is infatuated with glitter.
Cece joined RVAH in April of 2020 as a Veterinary Technician. She has worked in the veterinary industry since 2014 and she started her veterinary career at a clinic in Southern California while attending college for her degree. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance from the University at California State Fullerton. She works with the Oklahoma Boston Terrier Rescue as a transport and foster, and she is also an instructor at Marvin Altman Fitness Center for Zumba Dance Classes! She has 9 senior boston terriers who keep her very busy!
Her love for Boston Terriers began with her childhood pet, named Kelly, a lovable Boston Terrier. Her love of animals grew more with age, and she knew she was going to work with animals as an adult. When she is not working her passions include musicals, concerts, ballets, animal-welfare, fitness, and spending quality time with her friends.
Bre has recently joined the RVAH team as a Veterinary Technician in April of 2020!
Bre earned her National Veterinary Assistant Certification in 2016 and graduated with her Associate’s Degree in General Studies in 2019. Originally from Van Buren, Arkansas, she has gained both her education and experience from Southeast Oklahoma, Northwest Arkansas, and the River Valley area.
Bre’s special interests in Veterinary Medicine include canine behavior, shelter medicine, and hospitalized patient care. She enjoys road trips exploring outdoors with Zeke, her pit bull mix she adopted from the animal shelter where she had first started her career as an animal caretaker. Her other hobbies include time spent with friends and family, attending truck/car events and music concerts. Bre also works as a part time Veterinary Technician at the Fort Smith Animal Emergency Clinic.
Bre’s young memories of developing the bonds with her childhood pets began her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She hopes to one day open an animal rescue, and continue on to become a Veterinarian! In the meantime, she is eager to expand her knowledge in large animal medicine here at RVAH.
Cyanna joined our team in May of 2018 as a Veterinary Technician! She was born in Baltimore, MD but grew up in Lake Charles, LA and moved here in December of 2017.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, an Associate’s Degree in General Studies, and is currently attending UAFS for her pre-vet med classes. She shares her life with her 5 year old beloved rescue shih-tzu/poodle mix named Henry.
Cyanna has always had an extreme love of animals, and her goal is to attend Veterinary School in the hopes of becoming a small animal veterinarian. She is an avid Game of Thrones fan and enjoys spending time with her family (and Henry), reading, and shopping in her free time. She also enjoys studying and speaking French, and is fluent in both English and French!
Cyanna is extremely passionate about animal rescue and would also love to have her own rescue center one day.
Chris joined the RVAH team in Summer of 2018 as a Veterinary Technician! He is a resident of Lavaca, AR where he attended and graduated Lavaca High School in 2011. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology through the University of Arkansas- Fort Smith in 2016.
Chris has recently completed his Associate’s of Applied Science degree in veterinary technology through Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK. After completion of his veterinary technology degree, Chris has completed and passed his national veterinary technician exam allowing him to be a certified veterinary technician in Oklahoma and Arkansas.
In his spare time Chris enjoys fishing, hunting and camping with his family and friends. Chris also has two companions at home that he enjoys spending time with, a Quarter-horse named Chigger, and a corn snake named Katari.
Brittney joined our team in May of 2017 and is from Van Buren, AR. She graduated from Van Buren High School in 2012. Then completed her first bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in small business and entrepreneurship at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2016.
She completed her second bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at the University of Arkansas in 2017. She is now attending Ross University of Veterinary Medicine to complete her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
She enjoys spending time outside at the lake, four wheeling, fishing, and hiking. She also loves to spend time with her fiancé, two dogs, and cat named Storm, Dozer, and Kurgan.
Aleighsha joined RVAH February 2019 as a Kennel Technician and is currently working on cross training for other positions in the hospital. She has worked with animals constantly since 2015 volunteering at a local animal shelter.
Aleighsha has known since the age of five that she would dedicate her career to serving and helping animals. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is ensuring that our clients and their pets have a happy and efficient visit.
She currently has Willow, a senior lab mix and “foster-fail” that she adopted from the Humane Society. She also rescued Rowdy and Biggie Smalls who are both very active Terrier mixes. Aleighsha is a cat momma of Archie and recently found Magnolia. She also has a Green Water Dragon named Gimley.
Her hobbies outside of work consist of watching Netflix, going kayaking, sleeping, and taking all of her dogs for hikes in the Natural State.
Gracie started at RVAH in May of 2019 as a Kennel Technician. She is a very dedicated student and employee; balancing high school, work, athletics, and electives! She is enrolled in a Health Career Program through her high school, and will be graduating in 2021 as a Certified Medical Assistant!
After graduation, she will be joining the U.S.Navy to serve and protect our great country. She has a love for serving others and giving back to our community.
Besides her deep love of animals and working, she loves to hunt and fish, watch The Office, and play basketball. She loves spending time with her family and friends and has 2 dogs, Harley and Oddie, and a hamster named Rocky.
Jody is a Kennel Technician who joined the team at River Valley Animal Hospital in February of 2020. She is an avid animal lover and has made it her life goal to make a difference in their lives. She volunteered for about 2 years at the Hope Humane Society where she worked in the clinic administering vaccinations and medications, as well as various other tasks. She enjoyed the hands-on interaction and assistance provided to the animals and aspires to become a Veterinary Technician one day.
As a child, Jody was raised on a small farm and cared for many different species of animals, including: dogs, cats, chickens, and rabbits. She was homeschooled through her high school years and graduated in 2018. Since that time, she has devoted every moment to caring for animals and pursuing her life goal. Accompanying her on this journey is her 8 year old Golden Retriever named Samson, her Betta fish named Finnian, as well as several other aquatic animals. Jody also hopes to add a ball python and blue tongue skink to the family soon.
When she isn’t working, Jody likes to spend her time with her pets at home. She is also a devoted gamer and plays video games of all types. Her favorites are the retro games from her childhood. Music is another big part of her life. Jody loves to sing and play her guitar at home and in church with her family. As much as she loves all of her hobbies and interests, though, none of them compare to the fulfillment she receives from helping animals in need. Her devotion and dedication in this field is something she is sure will benefit the animals of the River Valley and take RVAH to higher heights.
